Socio-economic development is our priority.

Our commitment to socio-economic development is an imperative part of good corporate citizenship, sustainability and good governance.

We recognise that the business environment is seamlessly linked to the broader social environment in which we operate and that socio-economic development is therefore a responsible business requirement.

We want to make a positive impact on the communities in which we operate. Our value to society includes the following:

Employment opportunities

We seek to recruit our employees from the local community to meet legal requirements and to benefit the country in terms of diversity management, and reduction of unemployment and poverty.

Skills development

Our Academy is registered and accredited as a training service provider with the Transport Education and Training Authority (TETA). The Academy provides learnerships to employees, disabled and previously disadvantaged learners.

Enterprise and supplier development

We seek to support the initiatives of the business community to help address the development needs of the country, and we promote the use of local suppliers where possible, contributing to the growth of local skilled labour and the economy. The Company has a Preferential Procurement Policy in place which supports economic transformation.

Community investment

Bidvest International Logistics supports a wide range of initiatives throughout South Africa, many aimed at empowering underprivileged youth to obtain skills to become productive and employed members of society.

Our community investment initiatives include a range of social investment responses, such as – provision of philanthropic cash donations, bursaries and study grants, equipment, and upgrading of infrastructure. Including providing bursaries to the dependents of Bidvest International Logistics’ employees for tertiary education.
